Blog Assignment for Day 3-Meaning Behind Sugarbeangirls
I love the name Sugarbeangirls. A sugar bean seems like it should be a real thing. Is it a jellybean? A coffee bean? How did I come up with that name? Well, for many years I enjoyed making homemade simple sugar scrubs. Sugar mixed with a light oil creates a luxurious blend for the skin.
Since I loved sugar scrubs so much, I seriously considered selling them. I have had the entrepreneurial itch for a long time and I thought that would be the perfect business for me. In addition to the scrubs, I enjoyed combining oils to produce body oils.
Often my daughter would help in the creation of some of those products. We discussed several different names for our business. We wanted something that sounded like us. She knew that when I was pregnant with her, my husband often referred to our growing girl as “Beans”. That nickname stemmed from our first ultrasound and that tiny embryo that looked like a lima bean. Since we were making sugar scrubs, one of us came up with the name “Sugarbeangirls”. I don’t know which one of us said it first, but we loved it immediately!
Eventually, I realized that the sugar scrubs and oils were more of a hobby than a business. Once I made a decision to start blogging, Sugarbeangirls still felt like the right name for my blog. It holds a special place in my heart because it is something I created with my daughter, my own special sugarbeangirl.
